Architectural Design Workshops for Young East Londoners
What
A series of online design workshops led by Beyond the Box, engaging over 150 young designers (14-19yrs) to explore the inter-related disciplines of architecture and engineering through online miniseries and week-long placements in architecture practices. The young design teams were tasked with designing a temporary structure to be built at Here East in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The structure will be part a 10-day festival curated by the local youth community.
The winning design ‘The Reverie’ was selected from a competitive shortlist of teams whose designs were presented and voted on by over 1300 locals! The design is crowdfunding for support here.
Scale Rule were – as always! – delighted to be involved in the workshops, and in completing the collaborative design and structural engineering as Simple Works.
