The NGD Nottingham team have been busy with design development of “The Social Shell” which will be going on display in Nottingham this Autumn. We think it’s looking really good and are excited to see the finished product. Watch this space for exhibition details!
Worried that the best of the summer was behind you? Worry no more for in just two weeks summer returns to Broadgate with the assembly of the generation pop up installation. Hopefully we’ll see some of you Scale Rulers down there for the build, but to give you all a sneak peak of what you can expect, here’s the latest CGI (thanks Jamie for the wizardry!).
And so, the circle of life continues, and Past/Present/Future is now very much in the
Past/Present/Future/Past for 2018. After a glorious summer in Clerkenwell, the Next Generation Design London team have disassembled the pavilion and stored it. However it may soon become Past/Present/Future/Past/Present, with it being readied for a new home (rumoured to be somewhere near here). Massive congratulations to the students and team for such a great project.
Here it is in its winter hibernation storage unit. Until next year!
Well done and thanks to all of those involved this weekend for the generation pop-up workshops. The culmination of the weekend saw the judges pick ‘A tree come true’ as the winning design so look out for a whole load of tubes and pipes coming to exchange square this September. Maybe even Mario and Luigi will show up…
1/3 of the Next Generation Design London team have been talking to the IStructE about why they do what they do. Well done them! All can be read here
Tomorrow morning Next Generation Design London 2018 opens with Clerkenwell Design Week! It’s a bit redder than previous years. And also more plant-y. We think you’ll like it!
Congratulations to the excellent London Scale Rule team who have pulled this together from the excellent student concept design with the inspiring and nimble-fingered help of a team of excellent volunteers from the Scale Ruler network, AKT II, Grimshaw and beyond!
(Extra special bonus points to The Edible Bus Stop for bringing the greenery in a last minute foliage dash)

Our delightful roll for the MacEwen Awards 2018 has come to a halt with an exciting commendation for the Next Generation Design Pavilion. The article ‘Ess-ence of youth’ thoughtfully written eloquently sums up why we do these projects and our aspirations of what it may bring to the industry in the future.
