Next Generation Design – London 2019!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Inspiring the next generation of designers, architects and engineers!

What

  •  Architecture and engineering workshop (2 days)
  •  Pavilion construction (2 days)

The 2-day workshop will be a mix of short talks from professionals about architecture and engineering, and design workshops to put what you’ve learnt into action. In teams of 2-5 you’ll design a pavilion to be part of Clerkenwell Design Week in Central London with a given set of materials, creating concept sketches and models, drawing fundamental engineering views of the pavilion and explaining how you would build it! By the afternoon of the second workshop day each team will present their design to a panel of friendly architects and engineers from academia and industry.

The winning team members will each receive a prize, but more importantly their design will be used as the basis for the real pavilion which you and all workshop participants are invited to help build in May 2017. Helping with the construction is a fantastic experience, but it isn’t compulsory: you can take part in only the workshops in February if you wish.

This is the fifth (5th!) year of Scale Rule design-and-build pavilion projects, following on from five previous completed projects in London (2018; 2017; 2016; 2015) and Birmingham (2017), and one currently in progress in Nottingham (2018)
